Sometimes the hardest talks are the ones that matter most. That’s the idea behind Awkward Conversations, a podcast and video series from the DEA and their partners that just launched its fifth season. Each week, new episodes dive into topics like social media pressure, stress, substance use, and relationships and other real issues that teens face every day that parents often feel unsure about how to approach.
What makes this series stand out is how it blends professional insight with everyday experiences. Parents, athletes and experts sit down to share honest stories about raising kids in today’s world. They talk about what has worked for them, what hasn’t, and how they’ve learned to navigate tough situations without perfect answers. That mix of real-life perspective and practical advice makes the show approachable, even if you’ve been avoiding these conversations because you don’t know where to start.
This new season also adds fresh tools for families. Short animated videos have been created for younger audiences, making it easier to open the door to conversations before kids are old enough for more serious discussions. Parents also get guides and discussion prompts to help bridge the gap between “I don’t know what to say” and “this feels doable.” It’s not about giving you a script, it’s about encouraging real connection.
Episodes will continue rolling out weekly through March 2026, which gives families plenty of time to follow along, reflect and practice these conversations in their own homes. Whether you’re a parent, an educator, or simply someone who wants to better support the young people in your life, this is a resource worth exploring.
